FIND VARROA MITES LONG BEFORE YOU SEE THEM ON THE BACK OF YOUR BEES ! THIS COULD EXPLAIN WHY 'SUGAR DUSTING' IS NOT VERY EFFECTIVE (NOT AT ALL EFFECTIVE) !

In very special places before decapitating and dissecting a bee for acarine inspection?
Don’t panic, it’s simple - hold the bee up towards the light
and have a look at the abdomen from below, the mites will
always (if present!) be visible as shown in the picture on the
left side.
One or two mites found this way in a sample of 24 bees means that your last varroa treatment was either not very
effective or came much too late. The colony has a varroa
problem - treat immediately!
